The city of Milan will host Let's Play, the latest participatory art exhibition by Terni-born artist Sandro Tomassini, to be held at the Fabbrica del Vapore, in Milan, from 8th to 15th September. Born in Ronciglione and raised in Terni, Tomassini has dedicated much of his life to artistic exploration, first as a designer and founder of Tomassini Arredamenti, and later as an artist, developing over the years a distinctive and original creative style.
With Let's Play, Tomassini presents a collection of some forty interactive installations that embody his two-decade-long exploration of kinetic art, a field in which he has established himself as one of the most exciting and innovative figures. Over the years, his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, earning him widespread recognition for his ability to innovate and his inventive approach to relational art. His creations continue to evolve, influenced by his personal experiences and his desire to engage the audience in an active dialogue with the artwork.
Let's Play is not a traditional art exhibition; it is an invitation to participate, manipulate and create. Tomassini's works are designed to be dynamic and changeable, thanks to the direct intervention of the public. Each installation, characterised by a bold use of shapes, materials and colours, is designed to encourage interaction: visitors can replace, subtract, overlap and slide elements of the works along tracks or around a fixed axis, creating a personal connection with each creation.
Among the works on display, Problem Solving stands out as the most representative of Tomassini's playful and participatory spirit. This labyrinthine installation challenges visitors to solve a puzzle while blindfolded, reminding us that the solution to life's obstacles is more often in our hands than we think.
Each piece in his collection functions as a kind of "game machine" that only comes to life when the public participates. For Tomassini, art is no longer just visible matter, but tangible and therefore manipulable. His attention to detail and his ability to transform simple materials into complex tools testify to the depth of his artistic research.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Let's Play is its inclusivity. Sandro Tomassini designed the exhibition with a broad and diverse audience in mind, including children, young people, adults, seniors and people with disabilities. In particular, a parallel path called La Giostra dell'Arte has been created to welcome visually impaired visitors. This section includes Braille captions and a selection of tactile materials, allowing blind visitors to experience art independently.
Let's Play will be open to the public at Via Giulio Cesare Procaccini, No. 4, in the Sala Colonne of Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan). The exhibition will be open from 8th to 15th September 2024, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with free entrance. The inauguration will take place on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at 6:30 PM.
Much more than an art exhibition, Sandro Tomassini's Let's Play is an invitation to become an active part of the creative process. With his playful and inclusive approach, Tomassini turns art into a game, making it accessible to everyone.
