Okay, movie fans: if you’re a lover of action-packed sniper movies, you’ve come to the right place. Our badass sniper-movie roundup is here to keep you on the edge of your seat for a night of non-stop action.

30 Best Sniper Movies You Have To Watch

Even if you’re not a sniper movie fan, we’re confident that this selection of sniper movies will leave you hungry for more, with a newfound love for all things intense, non-stop, and downright awesome.

So, without further ado, let’s dive right into a selection of the 30 best sniper movies you HAVE to watch.

Jack Reacher (2012)

This 2012 American action thriller has a jam-packed cast, including Tom Cruise, Lee Child, and Rosamund Pike. This film was written and directed by the revered Christopher McQuarrie and based on Lee Child’s popular 2005 novel, one shot.

Rated PG-13, the Jack Reacher thriller follows the story of a man with a sniper rifle who kills five people from a parking garage, seemingly at random.

However, this film takes MANY twists and turns when the suspected gunman leaves the police a note urging them to “get jack reacher.” Get ready for a night in you won’t regret not going out for.

The Grand Piano (2013)

Next up, we have The Grand Piano. This 2013 Spanish Thriller raked in an impressive $1.5 million at the box office and boasts a stellar cast, including Elijah Wood as the main character.

The Grand Piano is a little different from your average war or law-enforcement-based sniper film. The Grand Piano follows the story of a talented pianist who suffers from an unusually severe case of stage fright when he finds himself under the beady eyes of a mystery sniper, who promises to shoot him if he plays one wrong note. Pretty intense, right?

Although we’d argue that the script sometimes goes a little off-piste, the film continues to be visually stimulated and incredibly well acted throughout, which really makes up for some of the confusion you might feel when following the storyline.

The American (2010)

George Clooney takes the lead role in The American, a 2010 action-thriller, with a generous helping of crime drama.

George Clooney plays assassin Jack, who’s seeking an escape from his dangerous lifestyle. When his latest assignment in Sweden goes wrong, he heads off to Italy to lie low… or so he thinks.

As for the sniper aspect, we’ll be careful not to give away too much… However, we have no doubt that you’ll be impressed by the storyline, the filming, and the acting, which come together to create an unforgettable, bond-esque movie.

The Big Red One (1980)

Let’s go back in time a little to 1980 and take a look at The Big Red One. This movie features a notable cast, including Robert Carradine, Mark Hamill, Bobby Di Cicco, and Lee Marvin.

Interestingly, The Big Red One is based on a true story and was written and directed by the esteemed Samuel Fuller. This movie focuses on a sergeant and four members of his infantry. The movie follows their journey through the perils of WW2 and other battles throughout Europe.

Although this film isn’t exclusively sniper-centered, snipers play a pretty big role here and make for some of the most gut-wrenching, action-packed moments you’ll watch.

Phone Booth (2002)

This 2002 psychological thriller is brilliantly executed, thoroughly entertaining, and worth every second you’ll spend taking it all in.

With an impressive cast, including Colin Farrell and Forest Whitaker, Phone Booth unsurprisingly saw massive takings at the box office (almost $100 million) and is much loved by sniper-movie fanatics worldwide.

Phone Booth follows the story of publicist Stuard Shephard, who unsuspectingly finds himself stuck in a phone booth and trapped by an extortionist with one hell of a sniper.

Stuart is unable to leave the phone booth or receive outside help, and if he disconnects the call with his extortionist, he’ll be shot.

Highly revered, intense, and almost hard to watch, this is one sniper movie you won’t want to miss.

The Marksman (2021

Any Liam Neeson film is worth its weight in gold, and here, one of our favorite action actors takes the role of an Arizonian rancher who becomes the unlikely protector of a young Mexican boy.

Neeson must protect the boy from a hoard of cartel assassins who will stop at nothing to pursue him, making for some quality entertainment with extreme shoot-outs, chases, and plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments.

Shooter (2007)

In 2007, Shooter came to our screens with the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Danny Glover, and Michael Pena taking center stage.

The film follows the life of a retired Marine Sniper (yes, you already know this is going to be good!), Bob Lee Swagger, who was called back after retirement to help prevent an assassination attempt on the US President.

This film takes you through a series of heart-stopping moments with multi-dimensional characters and a brilliant storyline – let’s not forget that all-important sniping, either.

The Virtuoso (2021)

The Virtuoso is filled with deception, danger, and mystery, as a professional assassin accepts a new assignment from his questionable boss.

This neo-noir thriller is a classic hitman thriller, and our main character must race against the clock to figure out the identity of his target.

The virtuoso received mixed reviews; however, if you love sniper films, this is definitely one worth watching.

Run All Night (2015)

In 2015, Run All Night came to our screens to deliver an unforgettable action thriller. Liam Neeson takes the main role and is assisted by revered actors like Ed Harris and Joel Kinnaman.

In Run All Night, our hitman mobster Jimmy (aka Liam)  is forced to choose between protecting his son Mike or tieing up loose ends with old best friend and boss Shawn, who wants Jimmy to pay the price for taking the life of his own son.

Liam is, of course, our main sniper, and he puts on yet another incredible performance in this unforgettable sniper movie that received great reviews at the box office.

Through the Air (2015)

Through the Air came out in 2015 and is a French-Belgian drama that centers around an air-rifle champion who finds himself caught up in a life-threatening plot after he takes up a new job offer.

As he takes up the opportunity to make his hobby into a questionable (and dangerous) job, snipers take the main role in this movie, which was received well by its watchers.

The Accountant (2016)

2014-2016 were great years for sniper movies, and in 2016, The Accountant was added to the list of the most successfully executed ones.

Featuring an impressive cast, including Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, Jon Bernthal, and J.K Simmons, the accountant is an action-thriller that follows the life of accountant Christian Wolff, the accountant for some of the most dangerous organizations in the world.

So yes, accountants and snipers can go hand-in-hand, and this film does it with plenty of action and hair-raising moments.

John Wick (2014)

John Wick features the likes of Keanu Reeves, Ian Mcshane, and Lance Reddick in this American neo-noir thriller. John Wick is one of four films in a star-studded series, and it follows the life of assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves).

John turned his back on his old life to marry his wife. However, her tragic death leaves him in mourning. A series of threatening events that occur after her death spur John back into action. Expect plenty of mystery, blood, sniping, and revenge.

Hyena Road (2015)

Hyena Road (2015)

Hyena Road hit the cinemas in 2015. This Canadian war drama was written and directed by Paul Gross, who also takes the main role in this well-received action movie.

Follow the film as the Canadian sniper, and Afghani freedom fighter walks a fine line and works with two unlikely men to save lives.

The Gunman (2015)

In 2015, the Gunman was released, giving Hyena Road, amongst others, a run for its money. Featuring Idris Elba, Jasmine Trinca, and Sean Penn, the Gunman follows an assassin who, after emerging from hiding, finds himself the unlikely target of a hit squad.

This is your standard sniper movie, and although there’s nothing particularly standout about it, it still makes for a great watch.

Vantage Point (2008)

Vantage Point, starring Forest Whitaker, Dennis Quaid, and Sigourney Weaver, is a political action thriller.

As you might have already guessed, vantage point focuses on the attempted assassination of the US President, and recounts of the event are told from different perspectives, making for some mysterious watching.

Try and guess who’s behind the plot, and enjoy some sniper action at the same time!

Leon: The Professional (1994)

Although Leon: The Professional was released in 1994, it stood the test of time. The sniper movie market is somewhat oversaturated, but this film set a standard that would be followed for years to come.

Leon, a professional assassin, takes in a 12-year-old after her family is murdered. 12-year-old Mathilda wants her revenge on the agent who took her family, and as their relationship develops, Leon shows her the ways of his job as a hitman to help her get there.

This film features a great cast, including Jean Reno, Natalie Portman, and Gary Oldman, and it’s one film you won’t want to omit from your sniper bucket list!

The Wall (2017)

The Wall, released in 2017, follows the story of two American soldiers who find themselves trapped between an unsteady wall by a lethal sniper.

Featuring John Cena, Adam Sandler, and Laith Nakil, our two soldiers must find a way to escape in one piece, and unsurprisingly, it’s no small feat. There are plenty of shoutouts and mysteries in this one!

The Hurt Locker (2008)

The Hurt Locker, featuring Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Geraghty, follows a sergeant who was assigned to a bomb squad and found himself at odds with his squad due to his lone-wold tendencies.

The Hurt Locker won numerous academy awards and rave reviews, so we won’t give too much away – this is one you need to see for yourself!

Battle For Sevastopol (2015)

In 2015, the Ukrainian biographical war film Battle for Sevastopol was released, telling the story of Lyudmila Pavilchenko, one of the most successful female snipers in the world.

This young Soviet Woman joined the Red Army to tackle the German takeover of the USSR and became one of the deadliest snipers in history.

If you love refreshing true stories, this is one you won’t want to miss.

The Bourne Identity (2002)

Since 2002, The Bourne Identity, featuring Matt Damon, Brian Cox, and Chris Owen, has become one of the most popular action films of all time.

This action thriller follows the story of Matt Damon, and he is rescued from a near-death experience in the ocean. Damon has complete amnesia. However, he has extraordinary talents and skills for fighting, self-defense, and language.

Totally thrilling and utterly engaging; we can’t recommend it enough.

Sniper: Special Ops (2016)

Sniper: Special Ops was released in 2016. This American war action film follows the story of an expert sniper who’s sent to a village to rescue an American congressman.

Starring Steven Seagal, Tim Abell, and Charlene Amola, this film had some mixed reviews, but it has a great storyline and plenty of action to keep you entertained.

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Now it’s time for a classic: Saving Private Ryan. Starring the likes of Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and Vin Diesel, this film follows a group of U.S soldiers who, after the Normandy landings, must rescue a paratrooper from behind enemy lines.

Full of action, drama, and plenty of tear-jerking moments, this film hasn’t earned such an incredible status for no good reason.

Carnage Park (2016)

Now let’s head back to 2016 for Carnage Park. This action thriller features a splash of crime, thriller, and survival horror.

Written and directed by Mickey Keating, a dangerous sniper starts to terrorize a bank robber and a hostage right in the middle of a remote Californian desert. There’s a little bit of everything in this film, and yes, plenty of sniper action, too!

Tower Block (2012)

This British thriller film released in 2012 is nothing short of mesmerizing. In a slight deviation from our usual sniper plots, this film follows the story of a group of residents who witness a murder in their apartment block.

However, just one year later, they’re targeted one by one by a mysterious sniper. Engaging and action-packed, we loved this film.

Wanted (2008)

In 2008, Wanted hit our screens with exceptional casting, including James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and Chris Pratt.

This action thriller follows the story of a seemingly normal office worker who discovers his dad is actually a professional assassin.

As he discovers he shares his father’s incredible abilities, things get interesting. This film has incredible reviews, a great cast, and plenty of hair-raising moments.

The Day of the Jackal (1973)

In 1973, The Day of the Jackal came to the movies, recounting the story of a professional assassin who’s hired to kill; however, one determined cop’s attempts to stop him makes for a thrilling watch. This thriller was based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth, and it has become one of the most celebrated movies ever made. This is definitely one for your list.

Red Dot (2021)

Red Dot, a Swedish drama released in 2021, focuses on David and Nadja, who attempt to rekindle their romance on a hiking trip. However, things take a nasty turn when they find themselves pursued by a relentless mystery sniper.

Serious, grim, and intense, Red Dot may have received some mixed reviews, but it’s undeniably unique and heart-stopping.

Sniper: Legacy (2014)

Sniper: Legacy was released in 2014, and as a lone assassin is on a mission to execute a number of military leaders, he receives the dreaded call that his father is one of his targets.

This film follows his story and how he navigates a seemingly impossible situation against a backdrop of action, thrills, and violence.

Sniper: The White Raven (2021)

Sniper: The White Raven is based on a true story detailing the life of a physics teacher whose pregnant wife was brutally murdered by militants.

He later enlists as a sniper in Ukraine, with a promise to seek justice for his wife and his comrades. This is more than just your average thriller; you can expect plenty of tear-jerking moments between the madness.

Targets (1968)

Last on our list is Targets. This 1968 crime thriller received rave reviews when it was released, and its popularity continues today. A struggling, washed-up writer finds himself caught in the middle of a sniper on a relentless killing spree at a drive-in theatre.

This was released after MLK’s assassination and significantly impacted its audiences at the time. Profound, intense, and full of action – you’ll love this.

Dirt biking is one of the most exciting sports out there, though it’s also very dangerous. There is plenty of thrill from watching somebody dirt biking, because of the extreme speed and the high risk of injury.

This is what makes dirt biking a great focus for movies, because it instantly adds a whole lot of tension and excitement whenever the dirt bikes are racing.

15 Best Dirt Bike Movies You Can’t Miss

For this reason, there are plenty of different movies that are all about dirt biking, with loads of fantastically exciting scenes of high-tension racing.

In our guide below, we’ve got the 15 best dirt bike movies that you can’t miss. Whether you’re a dirt biker yourself, or you just like to watch the dirt biking from a distance, it’s guaranteed that you’ll enjoy the thrills and races of these dirt biking movies.

Supercross (2005)

We’re beginning this list of the best dirt bike movies with one of the slickest and most fun picks.

One of the biggest thrills you can get in dirt bike movies, besides the actual scenes of extreme racing, is the element of competition.

When there’s a rival set up against our main character, we want them to succeed at all costs. This adds a whole load of extra tension to the racing scenes, because the results matter to us so much.

“Supercross” takes that further, with the competition being between two brothers, K.C. and Trip. When K.C. is offered a sponsorship while Trip isn’t, a bigger rift grows between the dirt biking brothers.

However, when Trip gets injured, the brothers come together and make sure that K.C. can beat one of the biggest champions.

It’s a sweet premise and there’s plenty of exhilarating dirt bike action to watch.

Dust To Glory (2005)

This dirt bike movie is much more intense than many others for one simple reason: it’s a documentary. Knowing that this is all real footage, and not safer Hollywood stunts, makes the dirt bike footage in this movie much more nerve-wracking – because it could all go wrong and have real injuries.

On top of that, this documentary focuses on the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race in Mexico. Why is this notable? Well, this particular race has a reputation as being the most dangerous race in the entire world.

This is down to the incredibly harsh terrain that the racers have to negotiate, which is filled with massive deserts, nasty cacti, and the metal shells of old vehicles. Oh, and it’s a 24 hour race, too. This means that the competitors have to show extreme endurance as well.

The documentary puts you right in the place of the dirt bike racers, feeling all their thrills and chills.

Bennett’s War (2019)

This is an inspiring movie all about a war veteran who becomes a dirt biking professional.

He decides to pursue motocross because his father is behind on his mortgage, and needs immediate financial help. This makes the dirt bike racing even more emotional, because there’s high stakes rolling on it with his father’s stability.

It’s an exciting and heartwarming movie with plenty of thrilling dirt bike action.

Torque (2004)

This is a dirt bike classic! Rather than being a straight up typical depiction of the dirt biking world, this is a crazy action thriller with a suitably insane plot.

The movie is about Cary Ford, a dirt biker, who is wrongly accused of murdering another biker from a biker gang. The victim’s brother comes after him, trying to get revenge. Cary must battle these biker threats while also trying to prove that he is innocent after all.

It’s an action-packed movie that’s got a reputation for how high-octane it is – it’s like a “Fast & Furious” movie but for motorbikes! Better yet, Ice Cube plays the brother that’s trying to get revenge.

A-X-L (2018)

This is another out-there dirt biking movie, because it’s a sci-fi movie about a robotic combat dog. This dog befriends Miles, a motocross lover who enjoys riding his dirt bike around.

The plot kicks in when the creators of the A-X-L, the robotic dog, come trying to get him back. Naturally, Miles isn’t going to let this happen, and it means we get plenty of scenes of him riding his dirt bike while a giant robotic dog runs alongside him. That’s a sight you don’t see everyday!

Full Throttle (1995)

This is a dream combination of a movie, combining the exhilaration of motorcycle racing with the fast-paced butt-kicking action of Hong Kong cinema.

The plot is all about one of Hong Kong’s best motorcycle racers. When a deadly incident happens, and he loses one of his closest friends, the motorcycle racer stops to reevaluate his life.

This causes him to struggle with his identity as somebody who takes risks, and throws all his relationships up in the air – his father, his fiancée, and his friends.

As you can tell, you get plenty of emotional weight behind the scenes of motorcycle racing, all coming together to make a very enjoyable movie.

Motocrossed (2001)

Motocrossed (2001)

Something a little different after the last pick, this is a family action adventure movie with a cast of young motocross riders.

This is a Disney movie, so naturally it’s all about chasing your dreams. A young motocross rider named Andrew is close to reaching his motocross dreams, about to enter into a championship that could get him a sponsorship deal. However, he breaks his leg, throwing all his dreams away.

That is until his twin sister Andrea is able to impersonate him in the races, allowing him to get close to the sponsorship deal again.

However, plans change, and things get complicated. It’s a whole lot of family fun, with a good message and some exciting dirt biking scenes.

Winner Takes All (1987)

This exhilarating BMX movie is all about a famous motocross racer named Bill Robinson, who comes back to his hometown. Most residents welcome him happily, but some are jealous of his success.

Billy takes part in a local competition, but is pitted against his best friend, Rick Melon. Competitions are already tension-filled enough for the audience, but a competition between two best friends?

This is the stuff of nerve-wracking tension and high stakes!

Who will win? What will happen to their friendship? You can find all the answers by watching this extremely enjoyable dirt biking movie.

On Any Sunday (1971)

This famous motorcycle sport documentary from 1971 is brilliant for its exciting footage of the bikers, while also getting into their mentalities and emotions behind the sport.

A whole host of famous motorcycle racers are included in the film, which is now a great historical document of some of the best bikers in the history of the sport. On top of that, actor and racer Steve McQueen is also featured.

Free Style (2008)

This enjoyable family sports drama is all about motocross dreams. Young dirt biker Cale wants to win a slot on a big motocross racing team, hoping to prove himself and race alongside the famous bikers.

Thankfully, he’s got plenty of support behind him: his mother, spirited sister, and his new girlfriend. It’s a very sweet film with plenty of great dirt bike action.

With all his support, Cale will prove that he has the courage and the drive to get his dream motocross spot.

Fastest (2011)

This is another documentary about biking, this time focusing on famous MotoGP racer Valentino Rossi. The movie documents the difficult competition he faces from a series of new, young bikers while he tries to get hold of his 10th world title.

As you can tell, the stakes are very high and very real, with plenty of exciting authentic biking footage. The documentary is narrated by famous actor Ewan McGregor, himself a massive biker with a handful of documentary TV series to his name that feature him doing enormous bike journeys.

This Is MOTO (2019)

This incredibly immersive documentary allows audiences a window into the lives of 8 of the world’s very best motocross riders. Each of these riders has their own emotional story to tell, with a full journey that will move you.

On top of that, you’ll get to see plenty of real life motocross footage. However, since you’ll know all of the riders so intimately, with their stories of happiness and heartbreak, you’ll care even more when you watch them risk their lives on the road.

There’s something about going to the cinema that is just unmatched. You turn off your phone, shut yourself off from the world for a couple of hours, and immerse yourself into a whole new world.

I’m not sure there is a feeling quite like when those advertisements and trailers end, the screen goes dark, and you know that your film is about to begin.

Cinemark Ticket Prices

There is anticipation in the air, along with the smell of buttery popcorn and other concession snacks, and you just know that the next couple of hours are going to be great.

With the introduction of many streaming sites such as Netflix, I think many people are forgetting about what the atmosphere in those cinemas can do to you.

There are no interruptions. No one talking the whole way through your film. No distractions – those scrolling fingers are put to bay as your mobile is switched off.

There’s no pausing to just do this and just do that. It’s an experience that just can’t be truly recreated at home.

So you need to get yourself down to your local movie theater as soon as you can. The only thing that could possibly be stopping you is not knowing how much the experience is going to cost.

The History Of Cinemark Theatres

The History Of Cinemark Theatres

How Cinemark Came & Acquired

Cinemark made its first impressions on the United States of America back in 1984 by a man named Lee Roy Mitchell. In the beginning, you would only find these cinemas in a handful of states such as Texas, California, and Utah.

However, it didn’t take long before the chain spread like wildfire throughout the USA. And no more than 10 years later, there was a Cinemark in pretty much every single state. This was a massive achievement for what started as a small family-run business.

By 2006, the chain had acquired an additional 80 new cinemas from Century Theatres. These were purchased through both stocks and cash.

Moving forward another three years and the company actually tried to save Muvico from bankruptcy by purchasing a further four theaters from Muvico Theatres.

Move forward three more years again, and this exponential acquisition didn’t show any signs of stopping, when in 2012 Cinemark began to purchase Rave theatres.

This was a massive step forward for the chain as they started to acquire IMAX screens which are of much higher quality. However, the chain did lose some of these screens during some cost-cutting. A few other theatres were also sold to other companies such as Carmike Cinemas.

In the following two years, Cinemark was once again set to expand and renovate it’s cinemas. Many of their older cinemas were being treated to upgraded sound systems and new and upgraded XD large screens.

This meant that they would be able to show both standard 2D movies as well as Real-D 3D movies too.

Cinemark Controversy’s

In 1997 Cinemark became the head of a fair amount of controversy. The company was charged by the Department of Justice for going against the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This was because the design of the seating arrangement forced all wheelchair users to sit at the very front of the theatre.

Eventually, the company agreed to renovate its seating plans so that guests in wheelchairs had more of a choice of where they would sit.

Political Controversy

In 2008, the company faced a heavy amount of backlash as it was leaked that the CEO of the company, Alan Stock, had donated a large sum to the Proposition 8 movement. This movement tried to outlaw same-sex marriage in California.

This led to many movie-watchers boycotting the company and began many counter-campaigns from Cinemark rivals. Things did not settle down until the movement was denounced.

Cinemark Terror

During 2012, a Cinemark in Aurora, Colorado became the setting for a fatal terror attack. On this tragic day, a singular gunman opened fire inside the theater and 12 victims were pronounced dead and another 70 were confirmed to have been injured.

In 2014, the theater chains had to withdraw all screenings of ‘The Interview’ after there had been several terrorist threats that any theatre showing the film would be bombed.

Movie-Going Innovations From Cinemark Theatres

  • Stadium Seating – Did you know that Cinemark is one of the very first chains to ever employ stadium-type seating? This has become a really helpful and important part of cinema seating. Of course, as mentioned above, their innovation hit a little off-mark when it first began. This is because there were no measures put in place for disabled customers to be able to sit anywhere else other than the very front row. This was, however, later revised and made more wheel-chair user-friendly.
  • Unique Screen Design –  The unique screen design called XD is only used in Cinemark cinemas. And pretty much every screen in the Cinemark chain uses this large-screen concept.

Cost For Cinemark Movie Theater Tickets

Considering that Cinemark is possibly one of the biggest theatre chains in pretty much the entire world, their tickets are surprisingly good for money. You’ll tend to find that most of their ticket prices beat those of other movie chains such as AMC.

Does that mean that Cinemark is selling lower quality to be able to afford these prices? Nope. Cinemark shows great movies at high picture quality with a decent sound system, and the popcorn is pretty tasty too.

They also hold charity events, have loyalty programs in place, and so much more.

Ticket Discounts & Special Offers

While Cinemark ticket prices are still pretty cheap, we all love a good discount, don’t we? There’s nothing as satisfying as getting that service just a little bit cheaper. Well, Cinemark also offers a variety of discounts and special offers so you can save those pennies.

The most popular discounts without a doubt are:

  • Early Bird Discount –  Get to the cinema early in the morning/day (before 1 pm) and you will be rewarded with cheaper tickets.
  • All-Day Discounts –  Some of Cinemark’s theaters offer discounts all day long on particular days so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these types of discounts and events.
  • Senior Ticket Discount –  On particular days you’ll find that there are exclusive deals and discounts for our over 62’s.

What’s great is that these aren’t the only discounts that the chain has to offer. Take a quick look on their website and you’ll see many other discounts such as student discounts and military discounts.

Not only that but you can also sign up for the chain’s weekly newsletter via email and as a thank you, you’ll receive free concessions coupons and loads of other exciting discounts and deals!

Frequently Asked Questions

What Day Is Cheapest To Go To The Movie Theater?

If you’re hoping for the best deal on your movie tickets, then you’ll want to consider making Tuesday your movie night.

Because Tuesday has typically always been the quietest day in movie theaters you’ll often find discounts on tickets and sometimes on concessions too.

Can I Bring My Own Snacks To Cinemark?

The official stance on Cinemark’s food and drink policy is very clear and explicit. No outside food or drinks are allowed.

However, as the company policy also prohibits employees from searching guests’ bags, outside food is often ‘snuck’ into the cinema. So no you shouldn’t bring your own snacks, but I suppose it is possible.

How Many Cinemarks Are There In The US?

There are currently 521 movie theaters owned by Cinemark in the US. That is as many as a massive 5,849 screens across over 42 states.

Can You Use Cinemark Gift Cards For Food?

If you have a Cinemark gift card or e-gift card, it can be used to purchase movie tickets, concession items, or food and beverage items and the cafe and Studio Eats Restaurants.

Do Cinemark Employees Get Free Movies?

If you are a real lover of movies, you may want to get yourself a job at Cinemark. It is true, all Cinemark employees can go and see films completely free. They also get 50% off all concessions. 50% off popcorn? Yes, please.

Are XD Movies Worth it?

Is it worth spending an extra couple of dollars to see your movie on an XD screen? Yeah, I’d definitely say so. Especially so if you’re going to see an action-packed film or any movie with lots of special effects.

Can You Enter A Cinema Late?

Generally, yes, you can enter the cinema at any time. However, the obvious drawback is that you’re going to miss parts of your movie.

Some screenings, though, are labeled as Do Not Disturb (DND) and if this is the case you will not be able to enter the theater once the movie begins.

Final Thoughts

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, there’s nothing that quite compares to going to the cinema. Sure you can watch a film at home but you just can’t recreate that same atmosphere.

There’s no huuuuge screen in your living room (if there is, I’m jealous) you don’t have quite the same sound quality, and you certainly can’t recreate that delicious buttery popcorn at home.

So please, please, don’t stop visiting your local movie theater. And with prices as cheap as they are at Cinemark there’s really no excuse not to.

Their tickets are very affordable as they are, and once you factor in the discounts available at certain times of the day, you really can’t grumble. You definitely get your money’s worth.

Not only that but if you sign up with the chain, you can also get even more discounts on concessions too. What more could you ask for?

So get scrolling their website or take a trip to the theaters, see what’s on that tickles your fancy, and get settled in and get taken away to a whole new universe, time, and place.

Happy watching!

Thinking about watching Gangster Squad?

Directed by Ruben Fleischer and directly inspired (pardon the pun) by famous crime movie director Brian De Palma (think The Untouchables) Gangster Squad takes on the same dynamic as the Chicago favorite, as we see a gang of law enforcement go off the grid to battle an infamous gangster on their own terms.

Gangster Squad Movie Review

Gangster Squad is set in LA and is full to the brim with action-packed scenes decorated with blood, violence and just about everything else that you might expect from a gangster movie.

But, despite the fact that Gangster Squad is no stranger to the “shock factor” the storyline itself does little to get the pulse racing.

Despite this, there is one crucial area that the movie does succeed in magnificently – and that’s in its villain.

Played by Sean Penn, the villain of the movie goes by the name of Mickey Cohen and translates impressively well on screen to the audience.

In one scene, we see Penn (with a prosthetic beak) stand directly in front of the famous Hollywood sign while commanding his dogs to attack the remains of a man he has just killed.

One thing is for sure, if you’re looking for gore – you’ve certainly got it with Gangster Squad.

The good guys of the movie aren’t displayed in such detail, and this is one of the main shortcomings of this gangster movie. Josh Brolin plays ex-soldier turned cop John O’Mara, and is the main character for putting the gang together.

Blending charm with a wholesome energy, John fits the bill as the “hero”, but Brolin seems to be too confined by this label placed upon his character.

Things loosen up a little bit in his crew that he creates, though. We see Michael Pena play Robert Patrick, a mustache-donning sharp shooter and Giovanni Ribisi play a serious and reserved surveillance expert.

As for Anthony Mackie, he rounds up the tail of the crew and is seemingly just along for the ride.

The main selling point of the movie is Ryan Gosling, who does a good job of stealing focus, no surprise there) in the majority of his scenes – especially those that include his love interest played by none other than Emma Stone.

The chemistry between the two is natural, and captures desire, lust and everything in between.

Just like with every other crime/gangster film you can imagine, this film is action packed and far from subtle.

Every other scene there seems to be a fight breaking out, a glass of whiskey being poured or a brooding tension of lingering danger – which makes perfect sense when you remember that there’s an angry gangster on the loose for the majority of the film.

Gangster Squad is supposed to be a movie that captures crime history, but it all too often comes across as a comical mock-up of the real deal.

Nonetheless, Fleischer (who started out his career directing Zombieland) is able to create just enough visual allure and style to ensure that this movie is able to stand on its own two feet.

While it might not be the best movie ever made, there’s plenty of awesome action-packed sequences that put you on the edge of your seat, and temperature raising chemistry shared between Gosling and Stone to help you overlook some of the areas that this movie falls short.

Gangster Squad Movie: Our Verdict

All in all? Gangster Squad is a great movie to watch if you’re in the mood for some entertainment.

Sure, while it might not necessarily be the best gangster movie out there, Gangster Squad is a lot of fun and is full to the brim with great writing, plenty of banter and lots of action.

Not only that, but Gangster Squad has a whole lineup of likable stars in their roster, which makes it a whole lot easier to overlook the seemingly bad reputation that this movie has gained since its release back in 2013.

Still, it needs to be said that while watching this movie, there does seem to be a slight lingering feeling that the director opted to play it safe.

Directed by Rben Fleischer, you’d expect to be met with action, risks and plenty of dynamic – but Gangster Squad seems to all too often fall short in these areas.

Nonetheless, Gangster Squad is easy to watch, very funny in places and does seem to capture the main elements of a traditionally classic gangster movie.

If you’re looking for some entertainment to watch at the end of a long day, Gangster Squad might be just what you’re looking for. If you’re a crime genre aur gangster movie connoisseur, Gangster Squad might not get your seal of approval.

When it comes to easy Sunday viewings, Let’s Be Cops seems to fit the bill pretty well.

We mean, there’s a pretty great cast (Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, to name a few) and follows the age-old (comedy gold, might we add) storyline of everyday people suddenly being thrown into a position of great responsibility.

Let’s Be Cops Movie Review

In the past decade, numerous different movies within the comedy genre have thrown quintessentially normal guys into stressful, “figures of authority” situations.

From The Hangover all the way to 21 Jump Street, the list is long and great – and almost always funny. It’s a tried and true comedic storyline – so what could go wrong in the case of Let’s be Cops? Well, as it turns out, a lot.

The thing is, when these types of movies are done well – they’re fantastic. In order for them to be a hit, though, there seems to be a running theme to note, and that theme is potential risk.

Just think about it, in the case of The Hangover, the risk or take away from the movie is to refrain from partying too hard, even if you happen to be in the party capital of the world: Vegas.

When done right, viewers leave the film having experienced a cathartic experience from all the laughs, while also being given a cautionary tale that lends the story a little more substance despite being a comedy.

The problem with Let’s Be Cops is that the story just doesn’t have enough risk or “edginess”.

The director and oc-writer of the movie, Luke Greenfield, has seemingly opted for wackiness over wit, and the result is a movie that has no real sense of danger (and at many points, humor) to give the viewer enough reason to, well, care about the plot.

There’s no real points of  danger or risk at any point during Let’s Be Cops, and this is where the movie sadly falls flat.

With no high stakes, there isn’t really enough reason for the viewer to become emotionally invested in the characters (or at the very least, the storyline) and to make matters worse, Let’s Be Cops doesn’t have enough funny moments to help overlook the fact that this movie has no real premise or direction.

Still, the acting is A1 (credit where credit is due) and helps to make these flaws a little more forgivable. That being said, let’s take a closer look at the plot:

Ryan (played by Johnson) is introduced to viewers as an out-of-work actor who’s best acting job was that of a commercial promoting STD medication.

As you might be able to imagine, Ryan isn’t in the best of places at this moment in the movie – both personally and within his career.

We are then soon introduced to Justin (played by Wayans) who, despite being a pretty successful video game developer, is dealing with a difficult boss who constantly takes credit for his work.

In this instance, it just so happens to be a police officer game.

While doing research for this video game, Justin comes into possession of a pair of real police office uniforms, which the two pals decide to wear at a costume party reunion…you can see where this is going.

Much to the dismay of both characters and viewers, the party is actually a masquerade ball – which only serves to deflate Ryan and Justin even more.

After they leave the reunion party feeling pretty sorry for themselves, they begin to notice that their police outfits command both respect and awe from the passersby – particularly that of women.

With this newfound attention, the two decide to pretend to be cops for just a little bit longer!

Well, technically, the two decide to pretend to be cops after Ryan spends time convincing a more skeptical Justin to just go with it.

Ryan, all for this new venture, goes so far as to purchase a used police car on eBay, and even starts to pull people over. At this point, we’re introduced to Jstin’s love interest in the movie, the daughter of a restaurant owner played by Nina Dobrev.

In these earlier scenes, we see both Johson and Wayans really step into their role with total confidence.

Like we’ve already said earlier, both are established actors with plenty of accolades to their name – and it really does seem (at least during the earlier moments) that this movie might serve as a breakout into the movie-sphere for both.

But, for some reason or another, the movie falls flat and is neither edgy, punchy or even funny. A good movie for a lazy Sunday?

Perhaps – but if you’re looking for a film that’s going to leave you holding back laughter while also being on the edge of your seat – Let’s Be Cops isn’t what you’re looking for.

Did you enjoy Monsters, Inc.? This 2011 animated movie is considered a fan-favorite classic. But is Monsters University, a prequel to Monsters, Inc. any good or is it a roaring nightmare? Let’s find out!

Monsters University Movie Review

Monsters University was first released in 2013. It stars Billy Crystal and John Goodman as Mike Wazowki and Sulley, who resume their roles from Monster, Inc.

Acting as a prequel, this movie is set before the original. Steve Buscemi also returns as Randall Boggs.

The film follows Mike (Crystal) as he attends Monsters University to become a professional Scarer.

There, Mike meets James P. “Sulley” Sullivan (Goodman) and the two characters form a bitter rivalry to become the top Scarer.

Notable additions to the cast include Joel Murray, Helen Mirren, Nathan Fillion, Alfred Molina, and Sean Hayes.

Trying to follow the success of an original movie can be a monstrous task. But does Monsters University hold up to the much-loved Monsters, Inc?

Our Review

The Good

The animation is also amazing.  Pixar is renowned for its stunning and high-quality animation. Monsters University is so beautiful that it’s hard to take your eyes away from the screen.

The monsters look incredible, representing the perfect balance between cute and sufficiently scary.

The jaw-dropping animation style has such a timeless vibe. The character models are a particular stand-out, with so many unique-looking monsters.

Crystal and Goodman also provide a voice-acting masterclass throughout this movie. They offer dynamic voices that give life to these characters.

The relationship between Sulley and Mike is also a highlight of the movie. Seeing how these two best friends started out as complete opposites is incredibly interesting.

Mike begins as a nerdy monster who dreams of being a scarer, despite not being overly scary. In contrast, Sully is a natural scarer and jock.

We enjoyed getting to see these two go from hating one another to forming a close friendship.

Aside from Mike and Sully, many of the supporting characters were tons of fun. It’s great to see the diverse range of wacky monsters at the university.

In particular, the members of the Oozma Kappa fraternity were extremely enjoyable to watch.

Helen Mirren is an acclaimed actress. Her addition to this cast is ingenious, playing a somewhat antagonistic role. Unsurprisingly, she is a stellar voice actress.

Mirren plays Dean Abigail Hardscrabble, the head of the university’s Scarer program. She’s a perfectly intimidating character who puts these monsters through their paces.

Though Monsters University may not be on the same level as some of the most iconic Pixar movies, such as Toy Story, Ratatouille, WALL-E, and The Incredibles, it can nonetheless stand alongside them as a well-constructed movie.

Monsters University fairs well when compared with other Pixar sequels and prequels, namely Toy Story 2, Finding Dory, Incredibles 2, and Cars 2.

So if you appreciate any of these sequels, you will likely enjoy watching Monsters University.

We also really like the marvelous message of this movie, which encourages people to make friends with people that are often considered underdogs or who don’t fit in at school.

This is a sensational lesson to teach kids and it does it effortlessly.

The Bad

Unfortunately, Monsters University lacks the creative originality of the first film. Instead, it relies on school and sports-based cliches that feel very tired.

Additionally, there is sometimes too much of a focus on the plot, giving the characters limited room to develop.

This becomes even more true later in the movie. It becomes so plot-focused that few other elements are given space to breathe.

Also, though Monsters University has some moments of genuine comedy, we wish that the movie could have been funnier. While these jokes are sure to please young viewers, they may not land with everyone.

Should You Watch Monsters University?

Monsters University is perfect for kids of all ages. Most kids are sure to find its many gags hilarious. If your kid enjoyed Monsters, Inc., they are sure to at least find this prequel watchable.

Moreover, Monsters University will prove bearable for parents, which is sadly not true of all animated kid’s movies.

As a result, if you are searching for a movie that you can watch as part of a family cinema night, Monsters University is an outstanding option.

Due to the young target demographic, Monsters University may not be suitable for older viewers.

Plus, if you aren’t remotely interested in discovering how Mike and Sulley formed their iconic friendship, you likely won’t find the narrative very engaging.

Final Thoughts

Though Monsters University is never quite able to reach the heights of the original movie, it is nonetheless a worthwhile watch.

There are some decent laughs in this movie. Not to mention, it’s charming enough that parents can easily sit through Monsters University with their kids.

We give Monsters University 4 out of 5 stars.

Directed by John Carney (known for other works such as Once) Begin Again is a song-filled movie that marries the tentative feel of new beginnings with the whimsical nature of platonic yearning.

Begin Again Movie Review

Full to the brim with very likable actors and actresses, a scenic backdrop of iconic New York City and a soundtrack of catchy hits – Begin Again is the perfect entertainment option for Sunday afternoons and lazy mornings – and is a story about bringing two hearts together through the power of music.

Does it get any better than that?

Sure, while it might not necessarily have the glitz and the glam as some other works created by John Carney, it does so happen to convince us that it’s possible to record a successful studio album on the lively, busy streets of New York.

We think that’s pretty magical in itself. Unlike some of the other movies within this genre that happen to fall short of the mark, Begin Again has a clear storyline and plenty of charm, not to mention an impressive lineup of well-known performers.

Fronted by British star Kiera Knightey, Knightley plays the role of Greta, who is a singer and songwriter fumbling through life after a recent failed relationship with a rockstar wannabe (played by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine).

Greta catches the attention of a man called Dan (played by Mark Ruffalo) who was once an A&R man and is looking for a revival of his career.

After listening to Greta shyly performing on an open-mic, Dan can see her star potential from the jump and decides to take a chance on her.

All the while, Carney does a great job of adding drama and fun to the scene by creating an imaginary reworking of Greta’s shaky open-mic performance.

Instead of stumbling over her chords and lyrics, Greta takes center stage in the middle of a full blown orchersation – a sure sign of what’s to come later on.

This doesn’t last for long, though, as the viewer is then suddenly snapped back to reality, where we see Dan attempting to sign Greta to a label that he has recently been dropped from.

This is a failure, however, as soon as Dan hears Greta’s passion for creating indie music, the two decide to embark on their own passion project: to create a live studio album across the city of New York.

The eccentric couple embark on a series of makeshift recording sessions across NYC with the aim of integrating the authentic sounds of NYC into each song.

By recording on rooftops, sidewalks, central park and more – the album begins to take on a life of its own as it captures the heart and soul of NYC, including car horns, sirens and other iconic sounds associated with the big apple.

Even though it might seem unlikely for an upcoming indie artist to be able to find success recording an album (live too, might we add) on the streets of New York with little to no following – the impressive performances by both Kiera and Mark help to make it surprisingly believable, while the direction of John is clear, precise and easy to follow.

Not to mention, Carney had a pretty impressive budget for this movie, too.

As the story unfolds on the screen before us, viewers are also able to view the budding friendship begin to blossom between both Kiera and Mark’s characters.

While the oddly unique couple embark on an adventure around New York City to create their very own live indir album that captures the heart of NYC, viewers are given a closer look at Greta and Dan which are some of the most memorable moments of the movie.

Our Verdict: Worth The Watch?

So, is Begin Again worth the watch? All in all, Begin Again is certainly a charming movie that is just as unique and eclectic as the storyline itself.

With its original music that has been co-written by Gregg Alexander (frontman of New Radicals), city backdrop of the legendary NYC and the sweet moments shared between Knightley and Ruffalo’s characters – we found it moving, funny and oddly endearing.

It should also be said that Begin Again also highlights the struggle that many upcoming artists face (no matter where in the world they might be) while simultaneously celebrating the possibility of getting that much needed “big break”.

Whether you’ve got big dreams of becoming an indie artist yourself or you simply want some lighthearted movies to watch on rainy days spent indoors, then why don’t you put it on your “to watch” list if you haven’t seen it already?

It’s certainly got our seal of approval.

Arguably one of the most poignant installments of the Fast & Furious franchise, if you’ve stuck around the ride up until this point – it’s easy to see how much the cast has changed.

Fast & Furious 6 Movie Review

When they first started out, the cast were young and fresh faced, just newly entered Hollywood.

Now, in this 6th installment of the famous franchise, the cast are fast approaching their forties, or at least – the OGs of the cast are!

Still, that doesn’t take away from the movie, as the storyline is still just as thrilling and adventurous as ever before, and there are a variety of touching moments that can’t help but pull on your heartstrings.

At the beginning of this movie, you’ll catch a glimpse of both Paul Walker and Vin Diesel from one of the earlier installments of this franchise, as well as a montage of hot cars, women in bikinis and, of course, a series of beatdowns by the gang.

In this particular movie, we see playfully tongue in cheek Justin Lin take the director’s seat, and it’s easy to see his touch all throughout this movie.

Despite being such a great ride, there’s just one place that Fast & Furious  6 seems to be lacking, and that’s in the soundtrack.

The playfully outrageous bombastic energy of Lin’s directing seems to go missing in this sense, which means that some of the scenes seem to fall flat, especially from a viewer’s point of view.

Nevertheless, the members of the carjacking crew do an impressive job at holding focus, as they come out of retirement to help an international manhunt. Yes, you read that right.

At this point in the character’s lives, they’re all millionaires living lavish lifestyles as you might expect…so what made them want to come and help the police in this 6th installment?

Good question. Well, one of their pals (who was suspected as being long dead) is found photographed among the line of suspects that the feds show to the crew. Letty is alive and well, and was Vin Diesel’s love interest once upon a time.

She was presumed to have been murdered by a drug lord’s runner, and when she finally turns up on screen after all presumed her to have been dead – both the gang and the viewers share a moment of genuine shock.

Armed with all of the ingredients for an awesome action movie, Fast 6 is able to deliver on a fun storyline that promises viewers to be one hell of a ride.

Still, despite having the perfect recipe for being a top of the line action flick, Fast & Furious 6 often seems to feel more businesslike than actionpacked, but thanks to the action sequences being so focused on the wow factor – it’s easy to overlook this minor hiccup.

In one thrilling scene, we see a tank hurtling down the wrong way of a highway that fills viewers with both excitement and dread all at once.

While in another scene, we see the Rock (Vin Diesel) perform a wrestling move that is enough to garner both cheers and laughter from the audience.

There are even a few moments of the movie that provide a break from the action packed sequences and allow both the cast and the audience to catch their breath for a few moments.

In one such scene, we see a family barbecue which the entirety of the original cast attends together.

Here, they share laughter, memories and even share a prayer together, showing how much the gang have truly grown into a real family over the years.

Still, these moments are few and far between, and just moments after this scene we’re flung straight back into the heart of the action, as we’re left with a cliffhanger!

Our Verdict

When it comes to franchises such as Fast & Furious, comfort and familiarity are key to its longstanding success – and Fast & Furious 6 hits the nail right on the head.

In this movie, viewers are treated to Rodriguez’s endearingly bad attitude, Vin Diesel’s wit and charisma, as well as Paul Walker’s playful energy and big blue eyes.

Fast & Furious 6 also treats viewers to the charming banter shared between the gang (even if it’s not the best writing) that is so integral to the plot of Fast & Furious  as a whole, while also providing the nostalgia of being young, bold and free.

After all, the majority of fans of Fast & Furious did grow up with the cast.

All in all? If you’re looking for a movie that’s going to take you on a ride filled with fun, laughter, thrills and even a few touching moments – Fast & Furious 6 is the movie for you. Thank you later!

A Cappella is an unlikely subject for a movie, and it wasn’t until 2012 that we saw a movie fully take hold of this concept and use it to create a hilarious, feel-good story.

Pitch Perfect is a 2012 American musical comedy movie that became a surprisingly popular sleeper hit and then amassed a cult following.

Pitch Perfect Movie Review

With some great music, a charismatic cast, and lots of laughs, it has become a classic perfect for if you need cheering up.

But how well does it hold up compared to other comedy movies? Is this a movie that’s worth watching today? If you’re wondering about these questions, then you’ve come to the right place.

In this review, we’re going to be taking a quick look at some of the main features of the movie, and seeing why it did so well at the box office.

Let’s get right into it!

Overview

Based on the 2008 non-fiction novel Pitch Perfect: The Quest For Collegiate a Cappella Glory by Mickey Rapkin, Pitch Perfect follows the story of college free-spirited student Beca, who finds herself struggling to fit in at a new school.

While in a group of typically popular students, she finds that the only thing they all have in common is that they can sing together.

From here, she begins to push this group into forming an a cappella team, and they begin to compete against another a cappella group within their school.

What unfolds is a comedy film that owes a lot to movies like Mean Girls, but does enough to set itself apart from some of the cliches of the genre.

The main unique thing here is the witty screenplay and the music that permeates through the film making it more like a musical than a regular comedy movie.

Cast And Performances

Standout performances here are Anna Kendrick as Becca Mitchell, who plays the main character as a mix between rebellious and conflicted, but also deadpan with her delivery of humor.

Rebel Wilson got a lot of praise for her performance as the bombastic and comical Tasmanian singer.

Each member of the a cappella team is played with unique personalities, all bringing different brands of comedy to the scenes they’re in.

It’s also worth mentioning just how well they can all sing.

A lot of the music in the movie has been professionally recorded in a studio, but the scenes where the team sings outside of set pieces show the dedication that it must have taken to create authentic voices.

The Music

One of the main highlights of this movie, and the thing that has given it a cult following, is its electric soundtrack. Three individual songs charted on the Billboard 100 including Riff Off, Bellas Finals, and Cups.

The movie soundtrack contains 12 songs in its first edition, and it was one of the best-selling soundtracks of 2012.

Many of these songs are a cappella covers of hits through history, including Don’t Stop The Music, Since U Been Gone, and Party In The U.S.A.

It’s hard to emphasize just how much Pitch Perfect has done for the popularity of a cappella worldwide, and that’s a real testament to just how good the storytelling and music is within the film.

How Funny Is This Movie?

The main question you’re probably asking yourself whenever you look at a comedy movie is whether or not it’s funny.

Comedy is subjective, and this movie’s particular brand is a mix between outrageous farcical scenes and witty dialogue.

A lot of the dialogue is well written and some of the jokes are subtle, but whether you find it funny or not will come down to your personal tastes.

People tend to either love this movie and find it hilarious or find the comedy to be abrasive and annoying.

Final Thoughts

So to wrap up, Pitch Perfect is a great musical comedy that binds together the plot of an underdog sports story, a classic high-school comedy, and a musical to create a laugh-out-loud flick with some witty writing and great performances.

We’d recommend this movie firstly to anyone who is interested in a cappella or music, but we’d also recommend it to anyone who likes American comedies.

The one thing that is clear is that Pitch Perfect has stood the test of time, becoming one of those classic comedies that people come back to over and over.

With two sequels (arguably worse than the origins) it has managed to catapult a cappella back into the mainstream and make it cool once again.

We have no doubt that there will be a lot of a cappella singers in the future who will cite it as the movie that got them into the genre.
