A Walk Among The Tombstones Movie Review

This fantastic film was released in 2014 and since then it has only grown in renown. It has a 6.5/10 star rating on IMDB so despite its age this film has aged well.

It is rated R for several reasons which we will delve into later on in this article.

A Walk Among The Tombstones Movie Review

A Walk Among the Tombstones was written and directed by Scott Frank who was also involved in films like Marley and Me, Logan, Malice, The Lookout, Little Man Tate, and several other successful movies.

Overall, everything about this movie is impressive. But don’t let us tell you what to think. Let’s delve into other aspects of this movie so that you can make up your own mind.

What Is The Story?

We will try to keep our overview of the story as spoiler free and broad as possible. So, here we go. The story starts with a character named Matthew Scudder who used to be part of the NYPD.

After he left the force, Matt started working as an unlicensed private detective. His most recent client is a drug trafficker whose wife has been kidnapped and then murdered.

As detective Scudder delves into this murder he finds that there is more to this case than meets the eye.

As Matt Scudder traverses the back streets of New York to catch the perpetrator you have the wonderful blurring of lines between lawful detective and criminal.

The Cast

Don’t deny it, some of you judge a movie by the cast. Well, it is not a bad way to get an idea on what the movie will be like.

Some actors are known for certain roles after all. That aside, it can be important to pick movies that have your favorite actors in it.

Somehow that makes some movies more enjoyable to watch.

Our Opinion

It is not a film that we would recommend for children as there are quite heavily violent scenes as well as profane language.

But for those of you that are of age, this is a pretty good suspense movie. The twists and turns are relatively surprising, but there are some that you can work out if you are paying attention.
